Safeguarding

The Bulldogs were only the second Basketball Club in Merseyside and the second club in Wirral to gain Sport England Clubmark back in 2004. We successfully re-accredited twice before the scheme was replaced.
Clubmark and its successors require clubs to consistently demonstrate that they provide a safe and secure environment for Members, whilst also developing our Members as players, coaches, referees and table officials.
Nowadays, many of the Safeguarding requirements are part of the expectations of our National governing bodies, Basketball England and Basketball Wales, for all clubs.
All coaches must have:
- Valid and current Safeguarding training (from 2025 onwards in England, as qualifications become refreshed, this must be Basketball England's Safeguarding training, specific to the sport.
- A current Enhanced DBS
- All coaches must have, or be working towards, Level 2 Coach Award.

All volunteers who have contact with children must have a current Enhanced DBS and valid and current Safeguarding training.
All teams should have a first aider with a current Emergency Aid, or equivalent qualification.
